Abstract

The IPA is the major international organization linking palaeontologists around the world. In this article the authors, one of whom (C.T.) was a founding member, review the historical development and activities of the Association. This is the first in a series of "profiles" of international scientific organizations affiliated to IUGS. (Ed.)
