The glaciated upper catchment of the Megas Laccos Gorge draining
into the Vikos Gorge on Mount Tymphi, in the Pindus Mountains,
Greece (photograph taken in May 2002). An ice field formed in the
upper mountain area, where the highest peaks reach an altitude of
over 2400 m. An outlet glacier flowed down this valley depositing
diamicton deposits of the Megas Laccos Member. These deposits formed
during the Skamnellian Stage of the Middle Pleistocene. (Photo
